1. Who controls your personal data
The site operator of Maskr is the controller for personal data processed through this service unless another notice says otherwise. For privacy questions, rights requests, deletion requests, complaints or concerns about data use, contact privacy@localhost.
This policy is written for UK operation and refers to the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, ICO privacy notice expectations and relevant online safety expectations. It does not claim that every feature is enabled at all times or that every legal duty is fully satisfied by wording alone.
2. Adult-only and UK-focused service
- Maskr is intended only for adults aged 18 or over.
- Where UK-only access or signup controls are enabled, the service is intended for users in the United Kingdom.
- Do not use the service if you are under 18, if you are outside an allowed location, or if using the service would be unlawful where you are.
- If we suspect underage use, false age information, attempted bypassing of age controls or unlawful access, we may restrict the account, preserve relevant records, request verification, remove content and report concerns where appropriate.
3. Types of personal data we may collect
Depending on the features you use and what is enabled by the site owner, we may collect and process the following categories of data.
Account and identity data
- Email address, username, display name, account ID, password hash, login status, verification status and account settings.
- Date of birth, age, age confirmation records and age assurance or verification results where used.
- Region, city, postcode, location label, profile visibility settings and privacy controls.
- Profile type, relationship status, profile text, headline, interests, preferences, looking-for data, vibe or tag choices and compatibility answers where used.
Adult profile and special category data
- Sexual orientation, sexuality, sexual preferences, dating preferences, hookup preferences, role or dynamic preferences, adult profile content, adult interests and sex life information that you choose to provide.
- Profile photos, gallery photos, private gallery photos, chat images, verification images and other uploaded adult images where you choose to upload them.
- Because this is an adult dating and hookup service, some information you provide may reveal special category data under UK GDPR. You provide this information voluntarily to use the service. Where required, we may rely on your explicit consent for special category processing. You can remove or change optional profile information through your account tools, subject to moderation, legal and abuse-prevention retention.
Location and distance data
- Location text such as town, city, region or postcode area.
- Latitude and longitude if you choose to use browser or mobile location features, or if you save accurate match location data.
- Approximate distance matching, location accuracy data, distance display settings and hide-distance or hide-location-precision controls where available.
- We use location and distance data to support local matching, search filters, nearby results and safety controls. Distance figures are approximate and may be affected by device settings, browser permission, VPNs, manual entries, signal quality and stored data age.
Content, communications and community data
- Messages, private messages, chatroom content, chat images, forum posts, comments where enabled, meets, event posts, club or venue submissions and support messages.
- Reports, report reasons, safety tickets, support tickets, user complaints, blocks, favourites, viewed-me or profile visitor records where enabled, saved searches, looking-now activity and interaction history.
- Public profile information and public posts may be visible to other users depending on your settings and site rules. Private messages and private gallery content are not public, but may still be reviewed by staff where permitted and necessary for safety, moderation, legal compliance or support.
Photos, verification and moderation data
- Avatar images, profile photos, cover images, gallery images, private gallery images, chat uploads, verification photos, upload metadata, moderation status and rejection reasons.
- Verification evidence, reviewer access logs, review outcomes, expiry or resubmission status, warnings, bans, moderation notes and audit records.
- Verification helps with trust and age or account checks where used, but it does not guarantee identity, safety, background, intentions or lawful conduct.
Billing and payment data
- Plan selection, subscription level, payment order ID, payment status, amount, currency, checkout token, provider reference and payment metadata.
- Payment providers such as Stripe, PayPal or another gateway may process card, wallet or payment account data under their own terms and privacy notices. We should not normally receive full card numbers.
- Chargeback, refund, fraud, subscription and payment-webhook records may be retained where needed for accounting, dispute handling, consumer law compliance, abuse prevention and legal claims.
Technical, security and audit data
- IP address, device and browser information, user agent, referrer, timestamps, session data, CSRF/security tokens, cookie choices, login attempts, rate-limit records, security logs and diagnostic logs.
- Audit logs for owner, staff, support and moderation activity, including access to reports, verification queues and sensitive tools.
- Email notification data, delivery status, unsubscribe or preference data and Discord webhook alerts if enabled for operational or moderation notifications.
- Analytics, performance and traffic data if analytics tools are enabled.
4. How we collect personal data
- Directly from you when you register, edit your profile, upload content, answer compatibility questions, use location tools, message users, post in community areas, buy a plan, contact support or submit reports.
- Automatically from your browser, device, cookies, local storage, logs, anti-abuse tools, security systems and payment-webhook systems.
- From other users when they message you, view or interact with your profile, request private gallery access, report content, block you or involve you in a support or moderation issue.
- From staff, owner, support, verification and moderation workflows.
- From service providers such as hosting, email, payment, analytics, age assurance or security providers where used.
5. Why we use personal data
- To create, secure and manage accounts.
- To provide profiles, search, browsing, local matching, approximate distance, chat, private messages, galleries, forums, meets, clubs and venues, notifications, support and billing features.
- To process your chosen adult profile content and dating or hookup preferences so the service can operate as an adult dating platform.
- To provide privacy controls such as hiding distance, limiting visibility, blocking users, private gallery controls and message restrictions.
- To run photo verification, age controls, moderation queues, reports, support tickets, staff tools and owner settings.
- To detect and prevent spam, scams, fake profiles, fraud, harassment, illegal content, underage access, ban evasion, scraping, payment abuse and security threats.
- To enforce the Terms, Community Guidelines, Photo & Upload Policy and Safety rules.
- To respond to complaints, disputes, legal requests, police requests, regulator requests, safeguarding concerns and court orders where required or justified.
- To maintain logs, backups, audit trails, business records and accounting records.
- To improve reliability, usability, security, performance and abuse-prevention systems.
6. UK GDPR lawful bases
We may rely on different lawful bases depending on the feature and context.
- Contract: to provide the service you requested, including accounts, profiles, messaging, galleries, matching, support and paid features.
- Consent: where you choose optional features or where consent is required, such as certain cookies, marketing, optional precise location use or optional profile information.
- Explicit consent: where required for special category data such as sexual orientation, sex life information, sexual preferences and adult profile content you voluntarily provide to use the adult dating service.
- Legitimate interests: to run and protect the platform, moderate content, prevent abuse, detect fraud, secure accounts, handle reports, improve services and protect users, staff and the site owner.
- Legal obligation: where the law requires us to retain, disclose or process data, such as accounting, consumer law, data protection, online safety, regulator, court or law-enforcement obligations.
- Establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims: where records are needed for disputes, complaints, enforcement, takedowns, chargebacks, threatened claims or actual legal proceedings.
- Vital interests: only where genuinely necessary for urgent safety matters, such as an immediate risk to life or serious harm.
7. Special category and sensitive adult data
This service is built around adult dating and hookup features. You should expect that profile choices, messages, photos, gallery content, private gallery activity and preferences may reveal sensitive information about sexuality, sex life, adult interests or sexual preferences. Do not add sensitive information unless you are comfortable using it on the service and understand the privacy controls available.
You can remove optional profile information, adjust privacy controls from account privacy controls, delete uploads where the feature allows, block users and contact support. Some deleted or changed data may remain in backups, logs, moderation records, payment records, reports or legal records for a limited period where necessary.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies, local storage, session storage and similar technologies for login, age gates, security, CSRF protection, preferences, consent choices, fraud prevention, rate limiting and analytics or marketing where enabled. See the Cookie Policy for more detail.
9. Who can see or access your data
- Other users: can see information you publish or share with them, depending on your settings, the feature used and site rules.
- Private gallery recipients: may see private gallery content if you grant access or if site rules give them access. Private content can still be copied by recipients, so share carefully.
- Staff, owner and moderators: may access account, content, report, verification, ticket, audit, payment and safety data where needed for their role.
- Hosting, infrastructure and security providers: may process data needed to run and protect the service.
- Email providers: may process emails, delivery metadata and notification data.
- Payment providers: may process payment details, checkout metadata, subscription status and fraud checks.
- Analytics providers: may process usage or device data where analytics are enabled.
- Age assurance providers: may process age check or verification data where such services are used.
- Professional advisers: such as legal, accounting, compliance or technical advisers may receive data where necessary.
- Law enforcement, regulators and courts: may receive data where legally required, justified by law, necessary to protect users or necessary to defend legal claims.
We do not sell your personal data.
10. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to use lawful transfer safeguards appropriate to the provider and service, such as UK adequacy regulations, UK International Data Transfer Agreements, the UK Addendum to EU Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful mechanism.
11. How long data is kept
Retention depends on the data type, the feature used and legal or safety needs.
- Active account data: usually kept while your account remains open.
- Profile and optional content: usually kept until you remove it, close the account, or we remove it for moderation or operational reasons.
- Messages and community content: may remain visible to recipients or in threads unless deleted under available tools or removed by moderation.
- Verification and moderation records: may be kept after account closure to prevent underage use, ban evasion, fraud, scams, harassment, illegal content, repeat abuse and unsafe behaviour.
- Reports and support tickets: may be retained to evidence how complaints were handled and to protect users and the platform.
- Billing and payment records: may be kept for accounting, tax, fraud, chargeback, refund, consumer-law and legal-claim purposes.
- Security, audit and abuse-prevention logs: may be kept for a reasonable period after account closure, and longer where needed for serious abuse, security incidents, legal claims or regulator matters.
- Backups: may contain data for a limited backup cycle until overwritten, unless preservation is required.
12. Account closure, deletion and export requests
- You may request account deletion or a copy of your data through account tools or support.
- We may need to verify your identity before actioning a rights request.
- Deletion may not remove content already seen, copied or stored by other users.
- We may refuse, delay or limit deletion where data must be kept for legal obligations, moderation history, abuse prevention, safeguarding, payment disputes, fraud prevention, security, regulatory reasons or legal claims.
- Export requests may not include data about other users, internal moderation notes, security secrets, anti-abuse logic or information we are not legally required or permitted to disclose.
13. Your data protection rights
Subject to UK data protection law and identity verification, you may have rights to:
- access your personal data;
- rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
- erase data in certain circumstances;
- restrict processing in certain circumstances;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests in certain circumstances;
- receive certain data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent or explicit consent;
- complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
Contact privacy@localhost or use support to make a request.
14. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data, including password hashing, session controls, CSRF protection, access controls, staff permissions, audit logs, rate limiting, moderation tools, media access controls and security monitoring where available. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure. You should use a strong password, keep login details private, avoid sharing sensitive information unnecessarily and report suspicious activity quickly.
15. Children and underage users
Children are not allowed to use Maskr. If you believe a user is under 18, is using false age information, is attempting to access adult content unlawfully or is involved in exploitation, report it immediately through support. Where appropriate, we may restrict the account, preserve evidence, contact relevant authorities or make legally required reports.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when features, laws, regulators' guidance, ownership, providers or operating practices change. Where changes are material, we may notify users by site notice, account notice, email or another suitable method.
